Save our precious lands

Florida has long been recognized as a leader among the 50 states for a number of valuable technological and governmental advances. None of them has been more nationally recognized as forward-thinking than our Florida Forever land-buying program. So it came as an enormous disappointment when the news first hit this spring that the Florida House of Representatives decided to end the 20-year legacy of protecting and preserving what is wild, scenic and precious about Florida.

Today’s market

An interesting thing has happened over the last week … I have received calls or emails from five people ready to buy or build that home or office they’ve been dreaming about. Five over 7 days!

That’s an amazing number. More than I have received over the past YEAR!

You may think that 5 over a week is not enough to show a trend, but it sure has my attention!!!

Other than October, spring is historically the hot period for people to move, buy or sell all things real estate.  Spring fever gets people out of their homes, and with that activity, in my book, hope springs eternal for the many people in professions related to real estate!

Have you noticed the incredible bargains in real estate all around us? It’s like a blue light special on real estate. In addition to foreclosures and short sales, real estate is being put back on the market under-valued, because of the mistaken fear that the investment will never be returned.  And believe me, it is a mistaken fear.

Economics 101: any item that is limited in quantity will only INCREASE in value.  What is land?  A limited resource.  We can’t make more of it.  So over time it will always trend up in value.  How much time it takes depends on where the land is and the economic pressures that come to bear on it.

Add the icing on the cake: the Obama Administration and Federal government’s continuing efforts to loosen banks’ purse strings and get money flowing again. There are some very attractive loans popping up for first time home buyers, repeat homebuyers and everyone else.

Now’s the time to check in with your licensed real estate professional and take a tour of the available properties. Many even offer GREEN upgrades that save you BIG money!

Take action now – investing in real estate hasn’t looked this good in a while.
